External Quality Control and daily internal quality monitoring are equally as important. We have joined the internationally organized QAP in clinical chemistry and immunology since 1994. Other QAP organized by local institutes have covered the area of haematology, coagulation studies, microbiology and cytology screening sections.

These programs are very demanding and have high standards. Most of the Hong Kong participants are from regional hospitals. We used this QAP as one of the tools to monitor accuracy and our performance amongst the participants has so far been very satisfactory.
